This weekend is a first time 'back to school Party' that Duane and some friends are hosting. Should be good fun! This image could not be more perfect...and I am officially in love with these oxfords. My oxfords that I picked up in a vintage shop in Toronto died on me a couple months ago..They had a good life though..through Europe, NYC and Toronto...Lets hope I find me another pair when I head up there (TO.) this November! And those of you heading back to school soon..masters maybe..Good Luck!

Red and Fluffy

A couple weekends ago I made these classic red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting for a friend's birthday.

I used Paula's recipe, however, made mini cupcakes, baking them off for 10 minutes. These cupcakes were light, fluffy and very tasty plus the icing was a perfect combination of sweet and tangy.

Going to London?

So as you would have noticed I had a fabulous trip to England. So now I thought I would leave you with some must trys/visits when you visit the big and bustling city of London. I was not there long and did not get do alot of things I wanted, but all in good time, this will not be my last trip to London after all. So here ya go, some places in London that are simply a must!

1. Admiral Codrington - Recommended by the popular blog "This is London" I decided to give this place a try as 1. they apparently had the best burgers in the whole of London and 2. it was walking distance from our flat in Knightsbridge. When we finally arrived (thanks to google maps on iPhone) we were a bit taken back as it looked sort of like an old frumpy pub in the middle of nowhere. On walking around to find a table I discovered the dining room. It had an open roof top, vintage looking furniture and was, simply put, perfect. We luckily got seats for the five of us and it was cheese burgers and red wine all around. These burgers in my opinion were not only the best in London, but the best i have ever eaten. Yes they compete and outrank Shake Shack in New York! They were flawlessly cooked, tender and ozzing with juices (what a burger is supposed to be like but better). The home cooked fries were crisp on the outside yet soft in the centre and flawlessly seasoned! I definitely recommend if heading over the pond try this place, {located its located on 17 Mossop Street london, SW3 2LY} but make sure to make reservations cause you may not get as lucky as us.

2. Pizzeria at Harrod's (and Harrod's itself)  - There is no department store in the world that comes close to Harrods and you must make at least one visit here... even if it is only to window shop. Full of high fashion designers and sparkly merchandise your eyes dazzle in delight. My sister along with many others recommend the pizzeria for lunch and I was not going to pass it up. To get to the pizzeria you have to walk through the rest of the food hall and it is literally to die for..the highest quality of food items presented to perfection. There is usually always a line but it is worth the wait. Once i was seated i ordered an organic sicilian lemonade and the classic Margarita Pizza. Now this pizza is the real thing. They import all the highest quality ingredients from Italy and you can taste it - all the flavours marry superbly as the crust melts in your mouth.

3. Daylesford (in Selfridges) - Now its nothing compared to the Daylesford farm located in Gloucestershire but not much places you can get organic, high quality, fresh produce in the heart of London. So chicly packaged you do not even want to open the products!

4. Borough Market - We all know markets are a must when I travel. Bustling and chaotic it could not have been more up my ally, not to mention all the great photo opps. Vendors screaming, offering free samples you can leave Borough market with a full stomach! From Pimms, to Paella, to pulled pork i was in food heaven...and trust me you will be too!

5. Buildings of Parliament & Big Ben - Humbling as they come, a trip to London is not complete with out visiting these landmarks. I know they are no secret and everyone tells you "go go go" but there is a reason...so go go go. Its a bit touristy but you are a tourist after all.

6. Covent Garden - Full of shops, restaurants, bars, and tea houses Convent garden was one of my favorite walk around, have a drink,  people watch places in London. It is such a cozy and charming area, so much so I went back 3 times and that says something!

Gloucestershire {Day 6-8}

Day 6: After packing up all of our luggage we head to Paddington Station to catch our train to Kingham where Dane's friend will pick us up. As we travelled through the country i was blown away by all the green and beauty..heaven knows I was in for a real treat when i arrived in Gloucestershire...pure bliss. When we arrived at Danes dwelling it was sweet beyond words with wild roses growing up the side (seriously come on right?). I unpacked my stuff and we walked over to the Daylesford Organic farm shop which was located right in his backyard.we decided to grab some lunch. I had a heritage tomato salad with a mint and lemon vinaigrette..oh and feta (of course)..BEST Salad EVER! It was accompanied by some comp. bread and rose frizzante from chateau Leoube. Perfect beyond perfect meal...not to mention is was totally organic! After lunch we picked up some organic ingredients from the farm shop such as beef, onions, garlic tomatoes etc. for us to cook some dinner. It was then time for a walk, we drove up to the Bamford's house (or should say mansion) where I was introduced to everyone. We then took a stroll through their perfectly manicured gardens which were accented with white swans, coral statues, and wooden swings. It was then about time for dinner so we walked back home passing the many picture perfect dwellings and English cottages. We cooked up dinner and then ate it outside on one of the many picnic benches.

Day 7: The sun was shinning (finally right), I quickly woke dane, showered and headed down to the farm shop for breakfast. I had a freshly baked lemon tart with a cappuccino, Dane had a pain au chocolat and an espresso. We were ready to hit the road {after exploring some more gardens like their kitchen and rose garden} Our first stop was Bouton on the water. This exquisite little town with a continuos river, brick bridges, english stone cottages and not to mention tons of wild roses was so peaceful. Elderly couples walking their dogs, having coffee, dining....simplicity at its finist. It was then to Stowe on the wold. Another charming small town. Its city Square was full of antique shops, vine covered houses, beautiful bed and breakfasts and narrowing allyways. Dane and my self walked around and had lunch in a traditional english pub. On from Stow we drove an hour or so to Stratford where we walked around and gazed up at Shakespeare's birthplace. We sat at a cafe right in front of the house and had some coffee and just....relaxed. After a while we headed back to the car and drove home where we went for a lovely country walk. It was soon time for Dinner so we drove to Kingham and grabbed some traditional fish and chips which we took back to the house and ate on a picnic bench which was completely surrounded by wild flowers. The sun slowly set and the colours brought about  a perfect ending to the perfect day.

Day 8: We woke to rain (such a surprise),  walked over to the daylesford cafe and had some tea and croissants before heading back to london, but this time via car! We thought it would be a good idea to stop through Oxford for lunch..little did we know what the traffic would be like. Oxford is a very beautiful and historic town with some of the top academics having gone to school there. We found a park directly in front of a pub called Eagle and child, so we thought we would give it a shot. Little did we know this pub is famous having a number of literary connections including J.J.J Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. They and other writers would meet here and nicknamed the pub "The bird and the baby". So glad we landed here! After a set of bangers and mash and a pint or two of beer we were London Bound. Now it took us literally 6 hours to get there. The traffic was unbelievable! But it was great time to simply enjoy each other's company. Back in Knightbrige we hung out with Olivia. On the last day in England we went to Convent Garden and simply relaxed.

The trip was so amazingly fabulous and it was so sad to leave..but all good things come to an end..

London {Day 1-5}

Day One: So I arrive after a dreadful flight of someone behind me being sick :S..I am so excited and happy  I could really care less once I touch down... I get my luggage, catch the Gatwick express and finally a taxi to The Mews, Knightsbridge. Everything was going well until they dropped me to the WRONG residence and drove off! It was 6. AM and I was ...well i had no clue. As i quickly rang up my roaming phone bill Olivia managed to locate me! Olivia and I chatted for a bit and then headed out. She had work so i roamed Oxford street, shopped a little and finally ended in Daylesford pop-up on Selfridges rooftop (where Olivia works) for Tea. If you are heading to London this summer make it a point to go here! It is fabulous, rustic yet whimsical..kind of reminds me of Alice In Wonderland! I had peppermint tea and a scone with clotted cream, jam and butter..YUM..after some more roaming we headed back home. Dane was arriving soon so we quickly got really (well quickly as in after my hour power nap). He arrived later than planned as his plane from Ibiza came in a bit late. Anyways he arrived and that is all that mattered. We all (Dane, Olivia, James and myself) grabbed dinner along with some rose vino. It was then time for a few more drinks so we headed to a pub called the "The Ship". I had not slept in about 26 hours so soon after we homeward bounded.

Day 2. It was time for Borrough Market - yes i was super excited as I LOVE visiting market - especially in Big Cities and i must say it was no dissapointment. I am pretty sure i will be going there every time I visit London. Full of duck, peallea, curries, foie gras, pulled pork, chorizo sausage, Pimms, prosecco and on and on. I was overwhelmed but in a totally amazing way. After eating just as much as we could we headed and took a walk along the London Bridge. We were zonked so home we went where Alex came over! After a good catching up it was time to go and meet Amber (who was flying in from Paris for the weekend) and then head to dinner and the much anticipated Admiral Codrington (more to come on this as it deserves a little mention on its own). Dinner and 3 bottles of wine later we got ready and headed out to a Moroccan club called Fezz. What a fun and late night it was.

Day 3. It was time do to a little sightseeing and (more eating). Dane and I headed to Soho to try out this much raved about Quirky Mexican Restaurant! We ended up in Portobello Market and actually could not locate this restaurant..I thought it was hilarious as i love searching for spots ..Dane not so much loved it..anyways we finally located it (the name online and on the menu is acutally different to the name on the front of the store. The food was yet again FAB! After walking around the vintage market we headed to Big Ben, Buildings of Parliament and Trafalgar Square. Enough viewing though..it was time to meet back with the girls. Daylesford we headed and then finally to pub to watch the Euro cup finals! What a great way to end out already great day.

Day 4  - More of a Chill day we had. It was to Oxford to do a tad bit of shopping, then back to knightsbridge. I was starved so I went to Harrods for pizza and some browsing. It was just about tea time so we caught the tube over to covent garden where Dane and I had tea at Laduree.

Day 5 - Again more of a loungy day - headed to Covent Garden with Dane and Olivia where we browsed and just enjoyed the surroundings. Dane and I were supposed to take the train up to Gloucestershire but we were not really in the mood so we just relaxed that night, went for some Indian in Knightsbridge, it was lovely to just play everything by air.
