Ahh how I miss thee New York. I know this post is a tad bit late but better late than never. So what did Dane and myself get up to for these four days? Lots!

Well Day one we arrived - the taxi drive in was wonderful and as the Sky Line approached a (bigger) smile spread across my face...yes I have missed you. We arrived at the hotel, checked in, put our baggage in storage (we could not go to the room yet) and headed to Murray's Bagels for breakfast/lunch..i guess brunch is the correct term). Once we gobbled the food down we caught the subway to South Ferry where we picked up (the very free) staten island ferry to see Lady Liberty. Dane had never been to NYC so that was a must do. After that we walked up to Wall Street (passing the charging Bull and a massive freedom protest). We walked, snapped some images, shopped and then headed back to the hotel to get ready for Dinner. When we got to the counter we were notified that we had received a complimentary upgrade (Dane knew the owners through work) and boy was this an upgrade. Our hotel room was larger than my house in Toronto and had its own private rooftop which over looked a section of the city and the Hudson river. We were blown away. To add to it all, on the table sat a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. I think I may have jumped up and down for a little. :D Once we were all dressed for dinner we popped the champagne then headed out to
Tao to meet the girls for dinner. The food was as delectable as last time! Feeling a bit hurried by the server we headed over to
Lavo for a drink and then finally
Le Souk.

Now day two approached and I have to admit as much as I wanted to explore the magic of the City I also wanted to sleep as the beds were sooooo sooo comfy! I pushed myself, got up and headed in the shower. We crossed the street and had breakfast at Starbucks then made our way to Rockafeller Centre. From there we walked south on 5th visiting such sites as the library, Bryant Park, The Empire State Building. We reached Madison Square Park (starving) were I convinced Dane to stand in a line with literally about 120 people ahead of us. Any New Yorker or regular visitor would know what we were waiting in line for - Shake Shack! Boy are their burgers gorgeous. One Shak burger, fries and chocolate milkshake later, we made our way back to the hotel to drop off our shopping bags. After that it was off to Central Park. We caught the subway to Columbus Circle where we hopped on a bicycle like vehicle to take a tour of the beautiful man made park. Our tour guide was of African descent and very informative he took us to the fountains, the boat house, Strawberry Fields basically all around the park. He then dropped us by the Plaza where were walked over to the world famous Apple Store. Dane was in his ultimate glee! We walked along 5th (shopping some more) and then somehow ended up at at Rockafeller Centre. That night we got ready and walked to a local hotspot named Co. After an amazing meal, home we headed!

We woke on Day 3 to rain, lots of it. It was a good thing we planned to go to the Museum of Natural History that day as spending it outside was not a good plan. After breakfast (at Starbucks again) we walked through time in the brilliant museum. Seeing fossils and artifacts from millions and millions of years. It is sometimes hard to grasp that what you are looking at existed for so long when we our selves live for no more than 100 years (which is nothing). Such an interesting morning. Hungry and brain tired we decided to head out to Whole Foods and Grab lunch. I had salad along with some shrimp ceviche, guacamole and tomato salsa. It was delish...I could live in that place! I have no clue why I love supermarkets so much. The rain was pouring and it was cold but we walked over to Bergdorf Goodman where I did my make-up shop...If only I could buy more than make - up...maybe a 2.55? :) It was so difficult to grab a cab and we were freezing my oxfords were soaked through! We eventually made it home one umbrella later.. Dressed for dinner we decided to visit another local restaurant in the Village called Extra Virgin. Their spaghetti and meat balls were claimed to be "One of the Best Things I (Anna Burrel from Food Network) ever Ate" It was (once again) no dissapointment- except for this rude New Yorker who made a smart remark when I took a photo of my food. He really did annoy me..I think he was on his first date (how do I know? Well in New york the tables are basically touching each other) and his lady was not impressed by his remark! So ha to you ass$%^&. One rainy walk and a taxi ride later in our snuggly bed we were.

Our last day had arrived as we had dreaded it would :(.. Up early and dressed for the brisk 10 degree weather we made our way to Soho to do some (yes more) shopping. Our last supper in NYC was the famous and fabulous french bistro (Balthazar). And to the Airport we headed... :(
